This variety is not a separate species but rather a result of a special cultivation technique in Sicily, where trees are carefully managed to produce a second, off-season crop. Verdello lemons are slightly less acidic than other lemons, offering a well-balanced citrus flavor that is both tangy and mildly sweet.
