OUR STORY

SOULFIRE FARM

Welcome to Our Off-Grid Paradise

We’re not your average farm… We’re a family-owned adventure 🧑‍🌾 led by Laura and Emy, along with our kids, Luca and Mia. Nestled on Isla Solarte, a tiny Caribbean island off the coast of Panama 🏝️, our story is less Little House on the Prairie and more Jungle Survival Guide!

In 2018, we—our entire family, including our beloved dogs and cats 🐕‍🐈—dove headfirst into a lush jungle with nothing but a dream (and maybe a machete 🔪). No electricity, no running water, and, let’s be honest, very little clue of what we were doing! It was a huge challenge, but with a sprinkle of determination, a mountain of research, and maybe a few tears 😭, we began laying the foundation for our off-grid paradise.

Our Beginnings: Building from Scratch

Our first projects? A DIY solar system ☀️, a rainwater catcher 🌧️, and a simple hut—because, you know, glamping wasn’t an option! Next came the greenhouse, a labor of love (and wood harvested from our very own farm 🌳), which took three solid months to build. It became our secret weapon against the island’s relentless rain.

Fast forward a few years, and we now have a self-contained aquaponics system complete with koi and tilapia 🐠, living their best lives while helping us grow hundreds of edible plants. Alongside, we’ve developed a thriving barnyard featuring chickens, ducks, turkeys, geese, and guinea fowls 🐑🐔🦆🦃, providing us with fresh eggs 🥚 and meat for our family. Our dogs and cats? They help keep the critters in line!

Creating Abundance with Regenerative Farming

Through regenerative methods, we’ve built incredible, healthy soil, enabling us to grow the most nutrient-dense fruits and vegetables. Our orchards currently boast over 200 fruit trees 🥭🥑🍌, with a dream of reaching 600 fruit trees —a goal that might just require us to start wearing hard hats. 😂

And did we mention our plant nursery? It’s truly one of a kind, featuring over 200 varieties of grafted fruit trees, edibles, ornamentals, and garden supplies 🌱. Many of these unique plants and trees have been gathered from around the world over the past decade, and we’re always collecting more.

Join Our Journey

SoulFire isn’t just a farm — it’s a living experiment in self-sufficiency, land stewardship, and simplicity.

We’ve built this place slowly, with our hands and hearts, using what we have and honoring the land we live on. It’s not perfect — but it’s real. Rooted. Alive.

If you’re inspired by this way of living — whether you’re growing your own food, seeking a deeper connection to nature, or simply dreaming of a more grounded life — we’d love to share our journey with you.

Follow along on our blog, connect with us on social media, or request an invitation to visit the farm. We open our gates occasionally to small groups who truly resonate with the spirit of this place.

This life is messy, beautiful, and still unfolding.

We’re glad you found us — and we look forward to having you as part of our growing family!
