Please Read Before Applying

To ensure we're a good match for each other please take the time to read all the text below before applying.

WORK ETHICS:

Above all, we value work ethic and willingness to help over any skill set, degree, or experience. Come with an open mind, abundant energy, and, most importantly, a positive attitude. We seek individuals ready to fully immerse themselves in our project. If you can't commit to the entire agreed-upon time, this opportunity may not be the right fit for you.

VALUES:

At SoulFire Farm we are a conservative family with mostly conservative values. We respect all backgrounds, beliefs, and cultures. While we appreciate open dialogue, our Farm isn't suited for individuals seeking to advocate for political, social or environmental causes, or those promoting specific dietary choices. Our farm animals are free-ranged and have a really good life, but ultimately they will become food and we butcher on site. If our approach to food production aligns with your beliefs, we warmly welcome you to experience the authenticity of farm life with us.

We are not interested in hosting anyone who wishes to come here to preach their own values. If this is something you don't agree with perhaps we're not the best fit.

COMMUNITY LIVING:

Communal living can be rewarding, but there can also be conflicts or disagreements. To avoid conflicts with other interns please respect the following basic rules:

  • Keep your living spaces clean and organized.
  • Keep your bathroom clean, take turns with other interns to clean.
  • Respect other people's spaces and things.
  • Do not do to others what you don't want done to yourself.

Please keep in mind that you are being welcomed into a small Family farm and that your actions will have a great impact, either positive or negative, on the people with whom you interact.

WE'RE NOT A WELLNESS CENTER

We're not a "wellness retreat center", "rehab center" or a "holistic mental health clinic". If you're not feeling well mentally or physically, this program might not be right for you. While we do focus on health, our mission doesn't involve helping interns with their mental or health challenges.

WE'RE NOT A SCHOOL OR EDUCATIONAL CENTER

At SoulFire Farm we don’t have classrooms or whiteboards, you will learn by helping and participating in real-life projects and helping with the day-to-day operations of the farm business and homestead.

Learning is everywhere, it’s up to you to dig deeper and engage yourself into what’s interest you the most. Running a farm business like ours involves many aspects from sales and marketing to harvesting, crop planning, logistics, soil and water management, culinary skills, hospitality, and much more. If there are topics that align more than others with your interests or career path is up to you to participate and ask questions.

WE'RE NOT A GOOD PLACE FOR PARTY PEOPLE

If you are into nightlife activities, partying, excessive drinking, or drug use. We are not a good fit.

HEAT, HUMIDITY, AND BUGS

We are in the jungle, our climate is hot and humid and there are bugs of all kinds. If you are sensitive or allergic to bug bites we may not be a good fit for you. For most people, bugs aren't an issue, but it's advisable to bring long pants and bug repellent.

NO OUTSIDE VISITORS ALLOWED

Please do not bring any outside visitors to our farm without prior consent.

We reserve the right to ask volunteers/interns to leave early for violating farm guidelines.
