Get to know us!

Our history is an important part of who we are today. For us Learning about how our ancestors lived and the ways in which they grew their food and survived against all odds was an important task, after all, we all work to put food on the table and a roof over our heads.
We purchased this plot of lush jungle about 8 years ago with an idea to grow and raise our own food. In theory, this sounded great. But, in reality, it wasn't that easy. It took us about 4 years before we really started to work fully on our land. With no electricity and no water, and very little experience this felt like a huge mess, but with enough determination and a lot of research we started to achieve the very basics, starting with the installations of solar panels, rain water catchment and a small hut we set of to new beginnings.

We are located on a small Caribbean island were it rains year-round, so we had to make sure whatever we did here would be able to sustain the elements. With that in mind we started to build our first greenhouse using local harvest wood and some plastic clear roof, this project was completed in about 3 months and this is where it all began...

How we do things.

Our greenhouse is 32 X 16 feet and has 2 sides. On one side we have our Aquaponics setup, and on the other we have our flood-and-drain 55-gallon plastic drums cut in half filled with clay pellets that allows us to grow different type of plants with a bigger root system. The 2 sides of the greenhouse are connected and it all goes back to a koi and tilapia pond making this a closed system .

We have planted hundreds of fruit trees on our property, not all of them have survived with all the pest we have, Its a real struggle; We have been getting some plantains, bananas, papayas, passion fruit every now and then for years now, the guanabanas and  jackfruit are starting to fruit, and other little plants, are popping up here and there. We hope before long, we'll start to see lots of harvest coming from our many fruit trees!
We also got some sheep, chickens, ducks. guinea fowls, geese and turkeys, which allowed us to grow our bird and sheep population ... which have been a difficult and rewarding experience, we are amazed by every new birth that comes along, we still struggle with what to do when casualty happen but it is a learning curve that come with experience ...

For us it's very important the resources and processes we use. From the soil we grow our food in, to the water we use to nurture it, we strive to utilize our resources responsibly and efficiently.

Final Say

All in all, our family farm is a one of a kind place. Here, we take great pride in what we do; and we hope that by doing so, it will inspire others.

We look forward to sharing our experiences and progress with all of you, so please feel free to join us on this journey. Together, we can all learn and grow as part of the farm life. Thank you for joining us!
